The story of Seven Days on the
Cross |
|
Seven Days on the Cross
is the story of Varinia as
played by Gabrielle D'Cleda.
Varinia is, of course, a fictitious
character, but....
It was in the times of the Roman empire, when large
territories were under the control of Cesar, that a
force of rebels caused great loses to the empire. These
rebels were led by Spartacus.
They were overcome by the force of the Roman Legionaires
and they all ended up crucified., 2000 of them. |
The story goes that as Spartacus was
dying his wife was making her way out of Rome with their
child. A son who would live as a free man.
That's as far as the hollywood version of the story
goes as told by that genius of cinema, Stanley Kubrik.
In our version, Spartacus wife did manage to live as
a free woman and to raise her son as a free man. This
man went on to become a rich land owner, thanks in part
to the wealth his mother acquired from a roman senator
who was in love with her and who assisted her to escape
the wrath of Cesar.
This man, Spartacus' son, a rich man, married a beautiful
woman and they had one daugther, who they named Varinia,
after her grand mother.
She grew up hearing the tales her grand mother told
her time after time. She told her of a great man who
died for his people, so they could be free.
One day she decided to follow his path. To carry on
his legacy, to free his people.
Mad as it seemed, she did go in search of an army to
help her free the still enslaved descendants of the
crucified 2000.
Soon she was a legend, leader of a ragtag band that
fought its way into the hands of the romans who were
not going to allow another Spartacus in their midst.
She was soon betrayed, of course and captured.
Her captors decided to make an example of her to disuade
others to follow in her steps. And if 2000 crucified
rebels did not make a point before, one woman as an
spectacle of pain should.

JJ and Gabrielle got together in NY one
day. They were planning to shoot a movie but they had
some time. She needed to prepare for her role in the
film, and they had the set. They decided to make a new
video, this time Gabrielle would be the only one to
suffer the cross, and to make it more interesting, she
would suffer the cross for seven days. To shoot the
seven days on the cross, it took them about four weeks.
So, for four weeks Gabrielle suffered the tortures and
humilliations that her character, Varinia, would suffer
for seven days.
Four episodes of
this series are available now n The
Store.
