We are in Rome, we'll go to Firenze and we'll come back. Rome is wonderful, old, ancient ... so Historical. I can see in the streets the ghosts of the past. Europe is so old. Any city has a long history... oh but Rome ... Rome has thousands of years engraved on these walls... It's stimulating to see it.

JJ became my tour guide. He was here before, a number of times, once with Margot. I have the feeling that he misses her. Should I be jealous?

She's so intelligent that I'm sure they had many good interesting conversations. I'm just learning; but JJ is a good guide for me. Not only we see the city, but he tells me a little of its history.

Rome has such a big history. JJ said that to truly understand Rome we have to visit Greece.

We took a long walk, we went through what seems to be the commercial center of Rome all the way to the Vatican. An amazing construction, a little city inside a city. The palace of the Catholic God, the symbol of the old European power.

We also saw the mixture of architecture and the monstrosity that Il Duche created during the fascist time.

We went to a popular Piazza, full of people, many, many tourists, like us, from all over the world. Maybe the people that live in this part of the city are annoyed to see so many strangers at their doorsteps. <Or maybe not.

But it's a very romantic city too. We ate lasagna at what JJ calls a 'tourist trap'. It was awful and the portions were so small. It was disappointing. To come to Italy and not to have a good lasagna.

The best lasagna I had so far was in South America, in the city where I made my home for three years. At the house of JJ's uncle. He didn't cook it, his maid did. An indian woman.

We went to the center of the ancient Rome. I saw one of the very old Villas. I'm really impressed because these are buildings that are 2000 years old and yet they still look very good.
I can imagine how powerful the people that lived here were and what an exquisite taste. Even nature gave Rome wonderful trees with wonderful shapes. I can also imagine how people that came from other lands saw Rome as a great and marvelous city, a gigantic city.
